H2O CLUB SUCCESS AT CORONA DEL MAR

Waves for Water has typically been an initiative that puts water filters in the hands of professional surfers as they embark on surf trips to impoverished countries. However, high school senior Kevin Kassel proves that you don't have to be a pro to make a difference. Click 'Full Story' to find out how. Photo: Kevin Chang | Daily Pilot.

Kevin is the captain of Corona del Mar's surf team here in Newport Beach, CA, and the founder of his campus's H2O club. Two summers ago, he took off to the Galapagos Islands with plans to teach English, but brought water filters with him after he was inspired by a visit to our H2O headquarters.

Upon his return, he has continued to grow the club's presence on campus. This year, members have been selling H2O bottles with the intent of raising $10,000 to purchase water filters. Because of all the club's hard work, Rob Machado will be paying CdM a visit in February for the third installation of Hydration Nation; he'll be installing refills stations for reusable water bottles. You can read more about the H2O club at Corona del Mar and Kevin's story in the Daily Pilot here.
